OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. I. B. Thompson.

Mrs. Nancy W. Thompson, widow of the late I. B. Thompson of this place, died early Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Smith, at Parker, South Dakota, and was buried this forenoon from the Methodist church in Nevada the funeral being conducted by the pastor Rev. R. E. Shaw. Nancy Welty was born March 34, 1829, at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and died as stated, April 29, 1907, aged 78 years, 1 month and 5 days. She was married February 24, 1850, to I. B. Thompson, who died in the fall of 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were old-time residents of Story county and had their home for many years in Grant township, about three miles west of Nevada in their later years, however, they moved into town and here they continued to live until Mr. Thompson's death. After that Mrs. Thompson went to the home of her daughter in South Dakota, where she remained until her death. Her death was not a surprise, and her son J. W. Thompson, who lives on the old homestead, was called to her aide Saturday. He returned home Tuesday morning, and Mrs. Smith and her husband followed with the body last evening. Mrs. Thompson left three children, the two already mentioned and Mrs. Mary Jane Starker of Princeton, Illinois. She was a life-long member of the Methodist church and in every way a most estimable woman.
