Death of John Roland.
John Roland died Christmas morning at his home on Boone street, Ames, aged seventy-four years. Mr. Roland was a native of Sweden; was married in that country in 1862, came with his family to Norway, Illinois, in 1888; to Sheldahl, Iowa, in 1872; and to Ames in 1877. He was in the employ of the C. & N. W. R. R. either as foreman of track repairs or as gateman for about twenty years, and was retired on a pension from the road two years ago. He is survived by a wife and ten children all of whom attended his funeral excepting the two sons, O. S. and C. B. Roland, who are with Southern Pacific railroad in California. The funeral and burial were Thursday at Ames.
