From Nevada Representative October 29, 1906

Mr. O. J. Whitson, a prominent banker of State Center, was found dead in his bed there Saturday morning. His death does not appear, however to have been wholly a surprise. Together with a sister from the east he had been up to Nevada on the previous Sunday to spend the day at the home of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Ida C. Whitson, and his heart then was so obviously bad that doubt was afterwards expressed concerning his ability to return to Mt. Clemons, Michigan, where he had been with his wife on account of her health as well as his own. Returning from there to State Center, he stopped with a relative instead of at his own home and died there. Mr. Whitson was the partner of Mr. Dobbin in the Whitson & Dobbin State Bank of State Center, and he had been in the banking business at that place for nearly or quite thirty years. His funeral will be held at State Center Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock.
