Joseph York an old and respected citizen died very suddenly last Monday evening. He was born in England and came to this country when a young man and by close application to business became the owner of a large tract of land here and some 3000 acres in Colorado besides large holdings in town property. He was one of the pioneers of the celebrated Squaw Creek coal and mining company. He has lived to see the raw prairie converted into rich farm land. He was a devoted christian for half a century. The funeral was held Wednesday at ten o'clock. Rev. Yearger of Story City conducted the services after which the remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery near his home.
