OBITUARY
DEATH OF MICHAEL CONNOLLY
Michael Connolly died at his home in this city Sunday afternoon, Aug. 1, 1906 aged 68 years and one month. he had been kept at home by illness for most of the time since the very beginning of the present year; but during the summer he had considerably improved and his friends were pleased to greet him on the street a few times about a month or so ago. For the past three weeks, however, he had not bee no well, and in the past few days he had failed rapidly.
Mr. Connolly was born in County Mayo, Ireland, July 19, 1838, and was one of a large family who came to this country in pairs soon after they had reached maturity, the first pair being John Connolly, who has lived for many years east of Nevada, and Mrs. Flannery of Atlantic; Mr. Connolly and his brother William constituted the second pair; and his brother Joseph and sister Delia followed later. Mr. Connolly spent most of his life after coming to this country in Story county. He sojourned for a time in California and again in St. Louis; he farmed for a time in the eastern portion of this county; but for past thirty years or more he had been a resident of Nevada. He leaves besides collateral relatives his wife, Catherine (Quinn), his one son, George, by a former marriage; and his one grandson, Roy.
Mr. Connolly was an estimable and honorable man who was always kind in his relations to other people, succeeded fairly in his business, enjoyed the respect and regard of the community, and had many friends and no enemies. He will be sincerely mourned throughout the circle of his acquaintance.
His funeral will be conducted at the Catholic church Tuesday forenoon at ten o'clock by Rev. Father Nichols, and previous to that time his remains may be viewed by friends from eight to ten o'clock at his late residence.
