From Fredergill Family Funeral Home obituary, Collins and Zearing, Story County, Iowa:

Roscoe Luke Milleson
May 31, 1922 - March 26, 2017

Roscoe Luke Milleson, 94, of Colo, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa. A funeral will follow the visitation and begin at 11:00 a.m. at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor David Klinge officiating. Burial will follow in the Melbourne Cemetery in Melbourne, Iowa.

Roscoe was born in Prairie City, Iowa to Carl and Anna (Price) Milleson. He graduated from Melbourne High School in 1941. Following school he joined the Navy and served honorably during WWII. After the war he returned home to Iowa and married Ramona Eggers on September 22, 1946. The couple resided in Colo where they raised their family. Roscoe was a jack of all trades and could build or fix anything. He worked as a carpenter, built billboards, managed the Colo Co-Op, and he started Milleson Plumbing where he worked with Ramona and Earl for many years.

Roscoe was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and was a charter member of the Colo Lions Club. He was very organized and loved his garage. If a tool wasn’t put back where it was supposed to go he would notice right away. Roscoe enjoyed cracking walnuts, hunting, watching Iowa and Iowa State games, baseball, all sports, gardening, and baby-sitter Colo kids.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 70 years Ramona Milleson; children Anna Hartwig of Ames, IA, Susan (Gary) Keen of Nevada, IA, Earl (Nancy) Milleson of Colo, IA, Larry (Jodi) Milleson of Charles City, IA, and LouAnn (Gary) Cooling of LeGrand, IA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Irma Plate, and Betty Fink; brother-in-law Ruben (Veronica) Eggers; sister-in-law Bernice Eggers, Norma Eggers, Janice Eggers, and Jane (Loran) Frericks ; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Roscoe and his family.
