Imogene Louise Estrem was born October 19, 1920 in rural Alleman to Donald and Emma (Abuhl) Brazelton. Imogene graduated from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1943. She started her nursing career as a surgical nurse at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines and then Mary Greeley in Ames, she finished her nursing career as an occupational nurse at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames. She married Casper Estrem on Sunday; April 23, 1944. Imogene and Cap moved from Slater to Ames in 1979. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Imogene enjoyed bird watching, antiquing, traveling on the senior bus trips and she loved cheering on the Cyclones.
Imogene passed away at 96 years of age on March 13, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.
Imogene is survived by two daughters: Shelley (Marc) Lott of Ames and Sharman (Steve) McCann of Ames; daughter-in-law, Ardy (Bruce) Hinds of Ankeny; seven grandchildren, Lynn Estrem, Mark (Tina) Estrem, Kurt (April) Estrem, Shannon (Travis) Sayer, Ryan (Holly) Lott, Mike (Brandi) Niss, Jason Niss and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cap and son Bill Estrem.
Inurnment will be in Slater Municipal Cemetery.
The Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater is entrusted with the arrangements and the care of the family.
