OBITUARY
Death of Mrs. Jas. Robertson
Mrs. Elizabeth Robertson, widow of the late Jas. Robertson of this city and county, died on May 3 at the home of a daughter in Omaha and was buried there on th 5th. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Smithers, and she was born December 27, 1830, being at the time of death aged 78 years, 4 months and 6 days. She was married at New Buffalo, Michigan, to Mr. Robertson on April 7, 1857. They lived for a few years at LaPorte, Indiana and came to Nevada in 1868, residing in town for a number of years and afterwards with their son James in Grant township near Skunk river, where Mr. Robertson died twelve or fifteen years ago In recent years Mrs. Robertson has been with her daughter, Mrs. Tillson at Omaha. Mrs. Robertson had eight daughters and one son, of whom there survive five daughters, Nevada, Mrs. John Tillson of Omaha; Iowa, Mrs. Frank Trout of Washington; Mary, Mrs. L. G. Heffron of Washington; Alice, Mrs. Frank Barker* of Washington and Ora, Mrs. George Jones of Omaha; and also the one son, James Robertson of Grant township in this county.
Mrs. Robertson was one of the old settlers of this county, and the family lived for a number of years in what is now the Dr. Smith cottage on Linn street south of the court house block. She is kindly remembered by her old friends, and the news of her death will call up recollections of a kindly personage. She had been failing for several years from paralysis of the brain and her death was not a matter of surprise.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Alice B. Robertson was married to Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Parker (not Barker) as stated on 29 October 1883 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
