OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. George Cook.

Mrs. Josephine Cook, wife of George P. Cook, whose very serious illness had before been reported, died on Saturday, as the time is here understood, at her home near Cartright, North Dakota. She had for some time bee suffering much from stomach trouble, and this was the cause of her death. It was stated in the telegraphic advice to friends here that the funeral party would start for the nearby station of Williston today, Monday, and it is presumed that they will arrive at Nevada on Tuesday night or Wednesday, more definite information being expected when the party reach St. Paul. The funeral will be held at a time to be later announced in the Methodist church of this city and will be conducted by Rev. G. W. Mullen of the Evangelical church at Zearing.

Josephine Miller was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Miller and she was born in Defiance county, Ohio, May 13, 1859. She was married in Story county to George P. Cook September 18, 1881, and she died as stated at Cartright, North Dakota, January 2, 1909, aged 49 years, 7 months and 20 days. She came with her family to Story county soon after the war and lived near Iowa Center. She grew up here and was married here, and later her parents moved to Sioux county, where they died. She and Mr. Cook continued to live in or near Nevada until February of 1907, when they removed to Drake, North Dakota. Shortly before the close of the same year they moved upon a claim near Cartright in the same vicinity, their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Van Deberg having the adjacent claim and their houses being within a few feet of each other. Here she spent the last year of life all of which had been well spent in the duties that came to her to be done. Mrs. Cook leaves her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Van Deberg, a brother James Miller of Nevada and other relatives. She will be most sincerely mourned by those who knew her.
