Bad Accident at Liscomb

Miss Marie Trimble aged 16 years, and her cousin, Minnie Cook a year younger were crossing a trestle bridge of the Iowa Central railway near their home between Liscomb and Union Sunday when they were run down and instantly killed by a fast freight train till it was too late. The crew picked up their bodies and took them to Union. Miss Trimble was the the daughter of Linn Trimble who used to live on the Burgess farm north of Nevada. The family have many friends in this vicinity, who deeply sympathize with their affliction.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The names of the girls are misreported in the above article per other sources including grave stones. They were, however, cousins, their mothers being sisters: Uriah Lindley Trimble and Marietta (Moore) Trimble were the parents of Minnie Trimble and Jacob Cook and Elvira (Moore) Cook were the parents of Margaret Cook.

[Rexene Ellen Wardman] Beecher: Minnie Trimble, 16 years old, was killed along with 7 year old Margaret Cook on a train trestle south of union. One girl's foot became caught in the trestle and the other girl wouldn't leave her.
