From Nevada Representative August 7, 1908

Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Johnson and Thos. Jarville attended last Sunday the funeral of Mrs. Alma Burnett, wife of the Rev. C. S. Burnett, M. E. minister at Baxter. Rev. Burnett was on the Cambridge charge some five years ago. Mrs. Burnett had been in poor health and for a time was in the Methodist hospital at Des Moines. When removed home she was suffering under a partial mental breakdown. In July Rev. Burnett took his vacation and he and Mrs. Burnett went up into Canada for Boston. On the train at night, Mrs. B. left her berth while Rev. Burnett was asleep, went in to the toilet room, and there shot herself or some unknown person shot her, as she was found there later by a passenger dead. No gun was or could be found in the toilet room, and no gun was carried by Rev. Burnett on the trip so her death is shrouded in mystery.
