County Correspondence

Ames and College

The funeral of Mrs. Benjamin Confare whose death occurred on the 21st inst., will be held today (Wednesday) at the home of her daughter in Ames, Mrs. U. S. Griffith. Interment to be in Nevada cemetery.

In the same issue of the newspaper:

F. M. Confare of Great Bend, Barton county, Kansas, has been spending a week with his Story county friends, he having been called hither by the death of his mother, Mrs. Benjamin Confare. Mr. Confare says the wheat harvest has commenced; and he was on the stack when the death dispatch reached him. He will return to Great Bend Tuesday, and his father will accompany him for the visit which was postponed by the sudden fatality of a week ago. Mr. Confare is glad to be on a farm again and at stirring work. He ran a feed shed in Ottawa for a few years, but the waiting for custom, usual in town occupations, was not to his taste. He likes Kansas, yet sees a marvelous charm in the green fields of Iowa which the prairies by the Arkansas lack. He reports Mrs. Harrison well; Bert, employed in Ottawa; Lessie, gladdening home with her presence during the summer vacation from teaching in Ottawa; and little four-year-old Ruth, the fairy of the home household and free child of the plain. Of his brothers-in-law, the Harrison boys who went from Nevada to Great Bend, only Melvin is left there, and he with his wife and three children are taking in town a vacation from farming; Bert is now a man of family in Gray Bull, Wyoming; and Eugene is a bachelor in California.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "F. M. Confare" was Falcon Murray Confare, son of Benjamin Confare and his first wife, Permelia Murray. He was married to Augusta May Harrison, thus the mention of "his brothers-in-law, the Harrison boys." Falcon and Augusta had three children: Jesse Bert Confare, Lessie May Confare and Ruth Confare also mentioned.
