Daniel Rees died at his home in this city Saturday afternoon after a protracted illness, aged 49 years and 12 days. He had been ill for three years and a half, and for the past year had been confined to his bed. For the past month he had been much worse and suffering greatly, and the end finally came to him as a release from long confinement and pain.

Mr. Rees was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa, April 20, 1859, and died as stated at Nevada Iowa, May 2, 1908. His boyhood and youth were largely spent in Des Moines; and he was married at Jefferson in this state December 18, 1882, to Miss Agnes McCambridge, who with five children survives him Mr. and Mrs. Rees and family came to Nevada about fourteen years ago, and here they have since resided. He was a baker by trade; and so long as his health permitted, he was a busy and industrious man. Always he was much esteemed by those who knew him well; and in his long and seemingly hopeless illness the greatest sympathy has been felt for him and his family.

Mr. Rees was one of a family of ten children, who are now much scattered. His own family consists of Mrs. Rees, of their daughter Miss Grace at home, the son Otis of Tacoma, and the younger children, Charles, Dan and Ruth at home. Still another child died in infancy. The funeral is held at the house this afternoon in charge of Rev. R. E. Shaw, Rev. Boyd of the Presbyterian church, to which Mr. Rees belonged, being absent from the city. Friends who are here for the funeral are his brother George and nephew, Ed Turby, from Des Moines; Mrs. Rees' brother, John McCambridge, and family from Boone; Miss McKay of Des Moines, a cousin; and Mrs. Stoneburner, a friend of Mrs. Rees, from Boone.
