Death of Mrs. Edward Belcher

Mrs. Ed. Belcher of Iowa Center died at her home there Friday night very suddenly of heart failure. She was fifty three years of age and woman much esteemed in her community. She leaves her husband and one married son.

The death of Mrs. Belcher was wholly unexpected and a great shock to the community. She had been in fair general health and very active in matters relating to church and society. Friday evening in company with Rev. Mrs. Busenberg and Miss Cora Coggshall she was on her way to attend a meeting of Sunday school teachers at the residence of Geo. Moore, when she suddenly complained of being very ill, and wished she were at home. She sank down rested her head on Mrs. Busenberg's lap. Mr. Busenberg hastened to harness and being his horse and Miss Coggshall ran to the nearest house for remedies, but before either messenger returned the sufferer was gone. Her funeral was conducted on Sunday by Rev. Busenberg and burial was at Iowa Center cemetery. She was superintendent of the Sunday school and a leader in good works and will be greatly missed and mourned. Her maiden name was Frances Shear and Iowa Center has been her home for a score of years.
