Death of Mrs. Gilchrist
Rev. Adam Wilson Gilchrist, a resident of Colo and vicinity since 1865, died at Colo October 1st, 1910, his funeral was conducted by Rev's Streyfeller and Manning the following day; and burial was in the local cemetery beside the remains of his wife. His age was 81 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Mr. Gilchrist was a native of Franklin county, Indiana; was married in Johnson county of that state in 1855 to Sarah C. Eastburn; served during the war with the hundred day volunteers of the 132 Indiana, and after the war came to Iowa In Iowa he divided his time between local preaching and farming. He was worthy, contented and honored and was justly esteemed as a very nice old gentleman. Mrs. Gilchrist passed over in 1891 after which time his life was solitary till illness attacked him early in the summer. His daughters, Mrs. Mary C. Cory of Colo and Mrs. Nancy E. Lewis of Des Moines survive him.
