Sorrow has come to Mrs. M. E. Hix of this city through the death of her brother, Mr. Orvis Ring of Reno, Nevada. The death occurred on Tuesday the 12th, after long suffering from cancer. Mr. Ring has visited his sister here several times. He was a bachelor, a man of culture, having been educated at Wheaton College, Illinois, served three four-year terms as State superintendent of Nevada schools and was the nominee against his protest for a fourth term. He reared several boys and provided them with higher education and the final care of two of these foster sons was a grateful return which eased his way into the dark valley.
