Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Nancy (Freel) Thompson, 80, of Ames passed away January 10, 2017 at Bethany Life in Story City.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Nancy was born in Ames, IA May 2, 1936 to Earl and Roxie Freel. Following her graduation from nursing school, she spent her working career working as an RN for Mary Greeley Medical Center.
In 1962 she married Jimmie Thompson, and they lived and raised their children in Ames.

She enjoyed reading, collecting Scottish terrier memorabilia, and her 3 Scottish Terriers, Cricket, Toby, and Phoebe.

Nancy is survived by her husband Jimmie; 3 children Brian (Suzanne) Thompson of Ames, Kristen (Phil) Halsted of Aurora, MO, and James McSparran of Barre, VT; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother Mike (Lois) Freel of Forsythe, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Barry Freel.
