KILLED BY A DEADFALL
A Strange Accident in Missouri
J. E. Reese, local manager for Swift & Co., returned Wednesday night from Missouri where he and Mrs. Reese had been called by the sudden death on last Friday of her brother, Lewis Fite, a farmer of about 47 years. Mr. Fite had broken the reach of his wagon and had propped up the box while he fixed the reach. In some way he knocked out the prop, and the box came down on him his knee being over the reach. He was thus trapped and choked to death, the ground not even indicating that he had been able to make a strggle to get out. He was alone at the time and was not found for about three hours. We think this beats the record of any fatal accident we ever heard of.
Mrs. Reese, who has spent the winter here with her husband, did not return with him but will remain for the present at their former home at Marysville.
