From Nevada Representative March 1, 1910 (page 5)

The remains of Enoch Thurman were received at Ontario Friday and his funeral was held there Saturday. Mr. Thurman was one of the pioneers of the west part of the county. He and his brother Charles, constituting the firm of Thurman Bro's, built in 1869 the first store in Ontario, and were important factors in the community so long as they remained there. Charles Thurman moved to Iola, Kansas, some years ago, and had been broken up by the death of his wife, went to share the brother's home. He in fair health visited Ontario relatives and friends last October, but soon after his return to Iola he became ill. Charles while nursing him, suffered an acute attack which soon carried him off; and now the brothers who had been closely associated nearly all of their lives are reunited.
