Funeral of Benton Corrington

The remains of the late Benton Corrington arrived here Wednesday morning from Peoria, Illinois, and the funeral was conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church by the pastor Rev. T. F. Hunter. The members of the Grand Army and number of others were present to pay the last tribute to one of the long-time residents of the county. The body was accompanied on his last journey by his nephews, Sheriff L. M. Hines of Peoria, Illinois, and Gilbert B. Hines of Dunlap in the same state. Mr. Corrington left Nevada on the night of April 25 last, taking the midnight train for a visit to his relatives in Illinois, and the next morning in the depot at Sterling, Illinois, he was stricken with paralysis. he was taken to Peoria county, and there he spent the remainder of his days. He died on February 11, 1910, and was over 69 years of age. Besides his nephews already mentioned he had of surviving relatives, his sister, their mother, Mrs. Laura Hines, of Peoria; another sister, Mrs. L. J. C. Bratton of Cortez, Florida, and brothers Frank V. of Peoria and Murray of New York City. Mr. Corrington inherited a fortune of about $40,000 from his father about ten years ago; but his investments had been unfortunate, and the principal remainder was the sum of $5,000 which he gave to the Presbyterian church of this city, the church to pay him five percent interest during his life. There is, however $2,000 policy in the Woodmen of which his nephew Gilbert Hines is the beneficiary.
