Obituary From Mitchell Funeral Home, Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.

Shane Michael Kennedy Geelhart, 27, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on the morning of Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Iowa River Hospice Home.

Memorial services for Shane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Don Czapla officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where Shane’s family will be present to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Shane’s name to the BCLUW Backpack Program located at 610 E. Center Street, Conrad, IA, 50621. Shane Michael Kennedy Geelhart was born on January 25, 1989, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In 1991, he was adopted by Bill and Karen (Reisch) Geelhart. He was educated in the South Dakota and Ames School Districts, finally attending Ames High School Special Education, where he graduated. Shane had a love for music, going on car rides, field trips, swimming and riding horses. Shane was best known for his infectious smile and laughter that will never be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bill and Karen Geelhart; two brothers, Chris (Denise) Geelhart and Ted (Kim) Geelhart; two sisters, Kara Flippen and Tiffany Kennedy; one nephew, Jacob Geelhart; nieces, Ainsley, Ginny, Grace and Sammi Geelhart; and Godmother, Patty Spader Edwards.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Geelhart, and his grandparents, John (Dorothy) Reisch and Percy (Mary Ellen) Geelhart.
