Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Elaine Halverson Anderson was born February 9, 1921 to Louis Elmer and Christine (Bergeren) Halverson in Minneapolis, MN. Her parents soon bought a farm in Roseau MN where she grew up with a younger brother and two sisters. She married John Silas Anderson from Cokato MN January 1,1943 in Bristol, CN where John was pastor of a church. Starting in 1945, she and John spent 10 years in Assam, India as missionaries where three of their four children were born. Upon returning to the US, they served churches in Plainfield and Des Moines, IA. They came to Ames in 1967 to serve as the first administrators of the brand new Northcrest Retirement Community which has grown into a premier community for retirees. Elaine made Ames and Northcrest her home for nearly 50 years. She loved to quilt, read, and entertain. Elaine and John were active members of First Baptist Church and Elaine was a member of Ames P.E.O.

Elaine passed away at 95 years of age on December 5, 2016.

Elaine is survived by a sister, June Lung of Los Angeles, CA; her children, Joyce Davidson of Ames, Jean Hayes of Winona, MN, Paul Anderson of Ironwood MI, and Stephen Anderson of Seattle, WA; as well as ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. .

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents; a brother, a sister, one grandson, and her life-long partner, John.

Memorials should be directed to Northcrest Community or First Baptist Church, both in Ames.
