Death of Father Cooney

Father Mark Cooney, one of the pastors formerly in charge of the Catholic parishes at Nevada and Colo died Wednesday night at Waterloo, and his funeral will be held there on Saturday. The news is received in Nevada with very great regret; for the deceased was regarded here with much affection by his parishoners and with warm esteem by the general public. His service here was for a little less than a year in the middle '90s; but there impression he left was definite and wholly favorable. In his subsequent work he has been equally successful, and we note from the Waterloo papers that many hundreds of telephone inquiries as to his condition were made during the day at the hospital there. His illness had its origin in kidney trouble, and his condition seems to have been looked upon as nearly or quite hopeless for several days before his death.
