Ole K. Teig was born in Søvde, Norway, May 11, 1850, and died February 16, 1928, at the Story City hospital. He was at the time of his death, 77 years, 9 months and 6 days of age.
He came to America in 1878 at the age of 28 years. Two years later he was united in marriage to Rachel Raymond of this place. They first settled in Story county and most of their married life was spent in Story and Hamilton counties, with the exception of a few years which were spent in Minnesota.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Teig. They are Christ near Randall, John at Kelso, Wash., Ole at Rembrandt, Edward at Kelso, Wash., Martin near Randall, and Mrs. Henry Tollefson at Windom, Minn.
He also leaves 22 grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Lars Durby at Story City, and Mrs. Gusta Olson at Seattle, Wash., and four brothers, Ole Teig at Lakefield, Minn., K. K. Teig at Roland, Martin Teig, at Burton, Wash., and Knudt Teig at Seattle, Wash.
His wife preceded him in death on July 27, 1913. Since that time he has been making his home with his children.
As to church affiliations, Mr. Teig was a Lutheran and for many years a member of Elim Lutheran church at Randall.
February 20 he was buried from the Elim church at Randall, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiating. A large number of relatives and friends were present to pay their last respect to this old settler. He was laid to rest at Mount Olive cemetery at Randall.
The following from here were in attendance at the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Teig, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Birkeland, Mrs. Jane Erickson, P. O., K. P. and O. P. Teig, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sampson.
