Steven Clarence Weigel, 62, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, Iowa 50010). Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Stevens Memorial Chapel, burial will take place following services in the Gilbert cemetery.

Steve was born January 8, 1954, in Story City, IA to Clarence and Betty (McCoy) Weigel. He grew up and remained on the family farm throughout his life. Steve graduated from Gilbert High School in 1972. Steve was known for his personality, he was a straight shooter and bit of a prankster. Steve was always willing to assist family and friends when needed. He loved to be outdoors by keeping busy working on equipment, or working on the farm. He was a modest man that liked to have fun and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his son; Steve (Bianca) Weigel of Gilbert, daughter; Sonia Shaw of Eagan, MN, grandchildren; Graham, Lilah, Harper and Hayden, brother; Stacy Weigel, sisters; Cindy (Jim) McClain and Kyia Ochoa.

Steve was preceded in death by his Parents; Clarence and Betty (McCoy) Weigel.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the family and they will make a donation to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation in Steve's name.
