Allen Edgar Uran was born on June 16, 1942 to Ralph and Neva (Groom) Uran in Yosemite National Park Hospital in California, where both of his parents worked. He spent part of his childhood in Manteca, CA. His mother, remarried when Allen was 8 years old and they moved to a farm near Maryville, MO. He attended school there and graduated in 1961. Allen worked several jobs and came to live in Iowa working for General Telephone starting in 1966. The company became GTE and Allen worked for them until he retired in 1998. He then chose to become an independent cable splicer for various companies. He traveled all over the United States. Allen always loved meeting new people and seeing different parts of the country. He continued to work at different job locations around Iowa until early this summer.

He married Nancy Reinertson on October 9, 1976 and together they raised their son, Tom. Allen enjoyed fishing with his son – even ice fishing last winter. He hunted in the past, but recently in many wintertime road trips with his wife looked for and counted deer around the area.

He survived by his wife, Nancy, and their son, Tom of Ames; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces and a great-great grandniece; his cousin, Dennis (Shirley) Coykendall of Oregon.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his step-father, Claude Warner, and his sister, Nance Jean.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
