Dillard Lee Lowe
July 14, 1908, to May 3, 1999

Dillard Lee Lowe, 91, of Nevada died of heart failure Monday, May 3, at his home in Nevada.

He was born July 14, 1907, in Lexington, Mo., to Millard and Louretta (Looney) Lowe. He married Bessie Marie Whited on Feb. 18, 1928, in Nevada. He had worked at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny during W.W. II, had farmed in Maxwell and retired in 1970 from Iowa State University. He had been a resident of Maxwell prior to moving to Nevada 44 years ago. He enjoyed yard work and his family.

Survivors include three sons, Delbert, Elbert and Robert, all of Nevada; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Milligan of Maxwell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 5, 1991; a daughter, Zelda; two sons, Dillard and Wayne; three grandsons; one great-grandson and a brother.

Visitation is today (Thursday, May 6) after 3 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor Steve William of First United Methodist Church in Nevada officiating. Burial will follow in the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. A memorial fund has been established.
