Funeral Services Held For Charley Hove

Funeral services for Charley Hove, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 13, at 2 o'clock in the St. Petri church. A prayer service at 1:30 in the Larson-Peterson funeral home preceded the regular service.

The Rev. Ocee Johnson officiated and Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang "In Heaven Alone" and "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, organist.

Casket bearers were Palmer Hove, Leslie Hove, Charles Hove, Haldor Hove and Tiller Knutson.

Interment was in the Story City municipal cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who attended the Charley Hove funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kuka, Mound, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Hove, Kiester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hove, Bricelyn, Minn.; Mrs. Ida Hove of Rake; Mr. and Mrs. Severt Mathre of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mathre of Winterset; Mrs. Otto Hesla and Esther Heimarck, both of Northfield, Minn.; Mrs. Sadie Dempsey, Claremont, Calif.; Rebecca Jorstad, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Emil Hanson, Brookings, S. Dak.; Mrs. Peter Hove, Boone; Marie Hove of Boone. There was also a host of friends and relatives from Jewell, Ellsworth, Stanhope, Stratford, Randall and Roland at the funeral.

Obituary

Charley Hove, son of Peter and Ingeborg Hove, was born on October 20, 1875 near Stanhope. He was baptized in St. Petri Lutheran church and was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church where he was a faithful member until 1936, when he moved to Story City. Since that time, he has been a member of St. Petri church.

He was united in marriage with Minnie Mathre of Story City June 28, 1905. To this union five children were born, all of whom are living: Irene Escher of Swan, Ia.; Helen Heimarck of Los Angeles; Alvira and Anders of Des Moines and Clarence, who is residing on the home farm near Jewell. Also surviving him are eight grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Oppedal, and one brother, Erick Hove, both of Story City. Five brothers and one sister have also preceded him in death.

Mr. Hove was a man always interested in the welfare of others and at all times served faithfully and well his home, church and community.
