Services held for Mable Phares, 82
Mabel Dimple Byers DeHoet Phares, 82, of Marshalltown died Friday, June 19, at home from heart failure.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 22, at Bacon-Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell with Rev. Mary Schultz of the Maxwell United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.
Obituary
Mabel Phares was born June 7, 1916 to Jon and Minnie (Trowbridge) Byers. She was united in marriage with Guy DeHoet Nov. 13, 1936. He died in a tractor accident in 1946. She married Floyd Phares in 1947. She was a cook for fraternities and school children and was also employed by Bourns Laboratory in Ames. Mabel and Floyd once owned the Flamingo Ballroom in Iowa Falls. She retired from working to care for Floyd. They moved from Ames to Marshalltown in 1964.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy DeHoet; her parents; a son Virgil DeHoet, who died in 1989; and a grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd of Marshalltown; a daughter, Patricia Anne Edwards of Marshalltown; two stepsons, Michael and David Phares; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
