Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.
Linda Jane Wilkening was born December 3, 1944 to Charles R. and Forrest L. (Denniston) Carson in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Lanny Wilkening August 20, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Collins.
Linda treasured her roles as wife, mother, sister, friend, aunt and nurse. But her most important calling was that as a servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Linda loved to study God’s Word and to walk alongside others in their journeys with Christ. She always had an open heart and door for others as shown through her passion for nursing and counseling. As long as her health and schedule allowed, she loved to meet with other women and encourage them to know God more. Nothing quite delighted her heart like sharing something special that God had done or hearing how He was working in the lives of those whom she loved. She loved and served beautifully during her 71 years on this earth, and she longed to spend eternity with the God who filled her life with true joy, hope and purpose.
Linda passed away at 71 years of age on September 6, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Linda is survived by her husband, Lanny Wilkening of Ames; her children, Michelle (Bill) McKim of Ames, Kristin (Scott) Hanson of Waupaca, Wisconsin and Mark (Kelsey) Wilkening of DuPont, Washington; and her ten grandchildren, Caleb, Joseph, Nathan, Andrew, Lyndsay, Ryan, Ross, Markus, Zavion and Halle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Michael Wilkening.
