OBITUARY
MRS. JOHN COUNIHAN
Mrs. Margaret Counihan widow of the late John Counihan died at her home in Nevada Iowa on August 28, 1914, after a lingering illness of several months.
Margaret Keleher was born at Rosecommon, Ireland March 21 1830, and at her death was aged 84 years 5 months and 7 days. Coming to America at an early age she lived at Indianapolis and was there married to John Counihan, Dec. 12 1853. After their marriage they came to Muscatine, Iowa where they lived a short time and thence to Story county in 1855 and settled upon a farm at Johnsons Grove where they lived until moving to Nevada seventeen years ago. Their married life was unusually long, they being married fifty-nine years the day before Mr. Counihan's death.
Mr. Counihan was a patient sufferer and in her last illness was surrounded by those near and dear to her, dying in the faith she had always cherished. In the passing away of Mrs. Counihan the community loses one of its oldest and most highly esteemed members. She was a kind and loving mother and a true friend.
The funeral rites were carried out according to her wishes by having a low mass without sermon. She had laid to rest beside her husband in the Nevada Catholic cemetery in the family lot.
