Obituary
Tom A. Ostrem was born in Etne, Norway, November 16,1856, and died May 24, 1920, being 64 fears of age at the time of his death.
In 1869 he came with his parents to this country settling first at Story City. A year later he moved with his folks on a farm four miles north of Roland, where he continued to live up to the time of his death. On December 17, 1896, he was united in marriage to Regina Sevold of Randall. To this union four children were born, Alfred, Selmer, Gerhard and Edith, who together with their mother are now left to mourn his death. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. H. F. Wilson and Mrs. O.'P. Olson.
Mr. Ostrem was a man of generous impulses and a friend to every man. There is no language at our command by which we can fittingly portray the sincerity of this man's Christian character. Conscience guided every act. To every man, woman or child, saint or sinner, he always extended a cordial greeting, that lent a ray of light to brighten their pathway in the journey of life. He was a devoted member of the Salem church and died the way he had lived a true Christian.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from Salems church.
