OBITUARY

Clara Scott-Hill, the second daughter of Mrs. C. Scott was born in Marshall county, on November 27, 1893 and died at her home in Roland, March 31. At the age of eleven years she came to Roland with her mother and has continued a resident of this place up to the time of her death. In her youth she attended the local school where by her sweet and happy disposition she won the hearts of both teacher and pupil. 3oon after her school career was finished she accepted a position as bookkeeper at the First National Bank, a place she held for eight vears. During the same years she also held the position of night operator at the local telephone exchange.

On January 18, 1916 at Chariton, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Louis E. Hill.

Mrs. Hill was first taken sick several weeks ago and all the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious household could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were gladly done, but the command of Him who rules our incoming and outgoing had been issued and after a long struggle, despite the prayers and entreaties of all who love her, their appeals were over ruled and she passed to the Great Beyond on Wednesday morning, March 31. She was a true friend and her devotion to those she loved would make a bright chapter in any life. With her sweet and cheery disposition and with a pleasant word to everyone she met, she won a host of friends, not alone with the young people but also with the older people whom she came in contact with.

She leaves to mourn her death a husband, a mother, two sisters, Miss Margaret Scott of Des Moines and Mrs. K. C. Thompson of Pipestone, Minn.

Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon, Rev. G. Smedal officated. Songs were touchingly rendered by the Male chorus. The flowers were many and beautiful.

Louis E. Hill,
Mrs. C. Scott
