William R. Weisshaar, 83, passed away on, 27 August 2016, at home. He was born in Creston, Iowa on, 14 January 1933, the son of Rudolph and Thressa Weisshaar. Later in life, Margaret Weisshaar became his second mother.
William enjoyed golfing, reading, crossword puzzles, ALL sporting events and being with family and friends.

He was in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. The family then moved to Ames in 1956 where he attended Iowa State University. He retired after 25 years at R. H. Donnelly and 10 years at Dun & Bradstreet. He was a member of St. Cecilia Church.

William is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene, children, Greg (Stacey) Weisshaar, Penny (Tom) Lorey, Lisa (Andrew) Weisshaar-Petillon, Michael (Annette) Weisshaar, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. William is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Ardy) Weisshaar and Cliff Weisshaar, and one sister, Claudia Schomaker. Also a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Norman and LaDonna Clark. Seven nieces and nephews. Many cousins and friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sep 1, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, in Ames, Iowa followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Ames Public Library or St. Cecelia Catholic Church.
