Funeral Services Held Saturday for Late Wm. Connolly

Funeral rites for the late William A. Connolly, 78, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Connolly, who died November 3 at the old homestead east of Nevada where he was born in 1860, were held Saturday morning at St. Mary's church in Colo and burial was in the family lot in St. James cemetery.

He attended the local rural school as a small lad and afterwards attended the Nevada high school after which he entered the State University of Iowa, graduating from the College of Law in 1882.

After graduation for a short time he practiced law with Attorney Dan McCarthy of Ames. Later he went to Des Moines and formed a partnership with Mr. James Nugent under the firm name of Nugent and Connolly. After the death of Mr. Nugent, Mr. Connolly retired from legal practice. The last years of his life he spent on the farm with his brother and sisters.

During his years of practice in Des Moines he was elected president of the bar association also headed the Allison Republican Club.

In September 1937 he met with an accident which caused him to remain in St. Thomas' Mercy hospital for over seven months. He never fully recovered and complications of disease developed. During the remainder of his life he was patient sufferer. He was kind and thoughtful of others, ready and willing to give aid and much patience with youth.
