Mrs. Kate Ayers passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 15 at the home of her nephew, Geo. L. Tichenor and family. She has been a constant sufferer for many months. All that loving hands and medical skill could do failed to bring permanent relief. Funeral services were held today (Monday) at the Summit U. E. church south west of Colo and interment mad in the Summit cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.

Obituary of Mrs. Ayers
Catherine Whittaker, daughter of Thomas and Harriet Whittaker was born near Nevada, Jan. 30, 1875 and departed this life Dec. 15, 1917 aged 42 years, 10 months and 15 days. On Oct. 22, 1904 she was united in marriage to James Ayers. To this union was born one daughter Hazel Adele. At an early age she was converted and united with the United Evangelical church at Summit. For more than three years she has been a constant sufferer. At one time she underwent an operation, hoping to regain her health but all was to no avail. For many years she has made he home with her sister Mrs. Oliver Tichenor and husband. At the time of her death she was with another sister Mrs. Mary Tichenor at the G. L. Tichenor home. She has been tenderly cared for in each of these homes during her prolonged illness. She leaves to mourn their loss he eleven year old daughter, Hazel Adella, her aged father, one brother Frank Whittaker of near Maxwell and four sisters, Mrs. Louisa Carter of Maxwell, Mrs. Mary Tichenor and Mrs. Hattie Coxworth of Nevada besides many other relatives and a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the Summit church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. C. McKinley who spoke words of comfort based on Matt. 28:6, "He is not here for He is risen." and Isa. 55:8, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways saith the Lord." Interment was made in the Summit cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
