KILLED BY TRAIN AND AUTOMOBILE
TWO ACCIDENTS NEAR STORY CITY
A.C. Frandson Hit by Train; Geo. Wier Upsets Auto
A. C. Frandson, prominent and wealthy farmer southwest of Story City, was killed by Northwestern train near his home about seven-thirty last evening, and George Wier of Story City, bringing down Alexander Henderson, an undertaker, upset his automobile and was killed within a few rods of the place of the other accident and only about an hour after than accident occurred. Henderson was bruised but got out of his accident without serious injury.
Mr. Frandson was starting for town to attend lodge, driving a single horse, and was caught by the evening passenger north bound, at the crossing immediately east of his home. His horse was not killed, from which it appears that he had nearly cleared the tack but failed quite to do so. He was father of a family of about a dozen children, the older ones well educated and all promising. He was one of the representative men of Lafayette township.
George Wier was the eldest son of Sampson Wier, a young man of fine character and popular in his community. With him it was plainly a case of hastening too fast in a case of distress, and his accident, following right on the heels of the other, makes an especially tragic situation.
Mr. Frandson was 64 years of age and Geo. Wier 27.
