Rev. Father Burke died at Mercy hospital, Des Moines, last week from the effect of injuries received in the railroad disaster east of Grinnell the week before. Funeral services, conducted by the bishop and a large number of priests, were held at St. Ambrose church on Thursday, and the interment was at Fort Dodge. Father Burke was pastor of the Catholic church at Newton and adjoining missions, and had many communicants in the south part of Story county. His zeal had built many churches, and made his influence widely felt.
