Death of a Pioneer

Joseph McCormack Diffenbacher died at seven o'clock this morning at his home in Ames. Funeral services will be conducted at Ames Wednesday at three o'clock by Elder M. N. Campbell of Nevada, and interment will occur Thursday morning at Boone. His age was nearly 78.

Mr. Diffenbacher was a native of Meadville, Penn., he came to Story county in the early fifties and secured from the government land now owned by Geo. A. Kimble in Milford township. The next year, his father brought to this faram his large family and it continued the Diffenbacher homestead till the seniors had passed away and the many sons and daughters had become scattered. The deceased leaves a wife and five sons and daughters.
