COUNTY PIONEER DIED MONDAY

Mrs. Rosetta Simmons, 83 year of age, died at the home of her son-in-law, Albert Kelley, residing two miles south of Ames early Monday morning. Death was due to infirmities of old age. Mrs. Simmons came to Story County in 1856 and settled on the farm at which her death occurred. In her sixty-three years residence in Story County she had seen much of the county's development and improvement and in her passing Story County loses one of its true pioneers. Since her husbands death she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Albert Kelley. In the past few months Mrs. Simmons' health had failed rapidly but her large number of friends had hopes that she might be spared to further enjoy nature as she loved it. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church in Ames. Rev. H. K. Hawley conducting the services, and was attended by a large gathering of friends of the deceased lady.
