GRIM REAPER IS HARVESTING HERE

MANY DEATHS ARE REPORTED IN THE PAST WEEK IN NEVADA AND VICINITY, BAD WEATHER FOR SICK

MRS. K. F. SHOPE

Mr. K. F. Shope passed away at her home in this city at one o'clock Friday after a short illness lasting less than two weeks in fact she had been confined to her bed only since Monday. Mrs. Shope had not been in good health for some time but about two weeks ago she contracted pneumonia which hastened her death.

Julia A. Warrell was born in Peoria, Jasper county, Iowa, Feb. 19, 1857 and departed this life Jan. 4, 1917 being almost 61 years of age.

In 1877 she was married to K. P. Shope. To this union five children were born, James F., Lillian A. Stillians, Rose E. Larson, Dora May and Roland. The latter died in infancy and Dora May passed away at the age of 18 just as she had finished high school and was entering womanhood. The others with the husband live in or near this city and are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Shope spent most of life in Maxwell, having lived in Nevada only about seven years. She was an active member of the Presbyterian church the W. R. C. and the Rebekah Lodge.

After a prayer at the home by Mrs. Leitch the funeral party went to Maxwell where the funeral was held at 10 o'clock at the Presbyterian church being conducted by Rev. Waddling the pastor of that church after which interment was made in Iowa Center. The Rebekahs from this city attended the funeral in a body and as their custom is conducted the ritualistic services.

Those from a distance who were present at the funeral were Sophia Crabby, Collins, Henry Tomlinson and family, Geo. Tomlinson and family of Bondurant and Eva Warrell of Collins.

RACHEL PEARL ROBERTSON

Rachel Pearl Robertson was born March 31st 1888 at Manville, Livingston Co., Ill. and died at the home of sister Mrs. H. E. Lough, at Nevada, Ia., Jan. 5, 1918. She was the eldest daughter of Rev. and Mr. J. W. Robertson. Her father who was a minister for 37 years in the United Brethern church, preceded his daughter to the Heavenly home, two years, one month and five days.

Prior to her illness, which was of short duration, Miss Robertson was a resident of Des Moines, where she was a trusted employee of the United States Dept. of Justice.

Her mother, Mrs. Robertson, her sister, Mrs. Lough and family and many friends are left to mourn the loss of a devoted daughter and loving sister and friend.

FREDERICK MILLER

The seven months old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Miller passed away Friday night shortly after eleven o'clock after a short illness of only a week, pneumonia and pleurisy being the cause of death. Little Frederick was one of a pair of twins born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller on May 30, 1917 the other little one having lived only a short time so in the loss of this baby the parents are doubly bereaved and will receive the sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow. Two other children are left to comfort the parents. The funeral is being held this afternoon at the Evangelical church, Rev. McKinley conducting the services.
