Mrs. John C. Ferris, the commercial traveler who was some time ill at the Wall House and who was reported better last week, was taken worse Wednesday night and died Thursday evening. his sister, Mrs. Geo. McKinley of Moline, was summoned in his last hours but arrived the morning after his death A brother-in-law, W. B. Smith of Fairbury, Nebraska, arrived also Friday evening and together they started with the body for Moline on the midnight train Friday night. The deceased was 44 years of age, a native of Canada near Kingston, but had been a resident of Illinois since about the close of the war, his home being counted at Moline. He was unmarried and for fifteen years had traveled for various Chicago houses, having been for the last year or two with A. Ryder & Co., produce and commission merchants of that city. His surviving relatives are his father, Willett Ferris of Clinton, Iowa, and his sisters, Mrs. Maggie Cowan of Syracuse, N. Y., Mrs. Hester McKinley of Moline, Illinois, Mrs. Eliza Smith of Fairbury, Nebraska. Not very mush is know of his personal affairs, but his firm give him the highest possible endorsement as an energetic, capable and trusty business man. He was cared for during his last illness by the Knights of Pythias, who also rendered such assistance as they were able to the relatives who came for his remains.
