Ernest B. Eggland, 65 died last Thursday

Ernest Benjamin Eggland, son of Osmund and Anna Eggland, was born on a farm near Roland on January 11, 1904, and passed away in Ames, Iowa, on July 3, 1969, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 22 days.

He was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church of Roland. He spent his entire life in the Roland community.

He was married to Evelyn Maxine Lemons on May 8, 1940 in Nashua. Three children were born to this union.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Floy Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Maurice Hansen) of Des Moines, and Kathryn (Mrs. Larry Purscell) of St. Louis, MO.; one son Keith, at home; two granddaughters, Janelle and Kristi Hansen; one grandson, Bradley Purscell, three brothers, Irvin of rural Story City, Eric of Roland, and Donald of Youngtown, Arizona; two aunts, Mrs. Emma Krohn of Des Moines and Miss Julia Eggland of Roland; one uncle, Albert Eggland of Roland; and also many other relatives.

The funeral service was held in Salem Lutheran Church in Roland on Monday, July 7, with Pastor Everett Nelson officiating. Mrs. Loren Twedt sang two songs, “Beyond the Sunset” and “Dear Lord and Father of Mankind”.

Interment was in the Roland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Anderson, Arnold Munson, Arthur Sorem, Robert Watson, Gale Eggland and Leonard Twedt.

Mr. And Mrs. Donald Eggland of Youngtown, Ariz., came Sunday to attend the funeral of the former’s brother, Ernest B. Eggland, on Monday. Others who came for the funeral were Mr. And Mrs. Terry Thompson, Bruce, Tim and Karen of Northglen, Colo., Mr. And Mrs. Don Pamparian and Denise of Caseyville, Ill., and Mr. And Mrs. Dean Hinz of Brookfrield, Mo. Mr. Pamparian returned to his home on Sunday as he was unable to stay for the funeral.
