RESIDENT OF ROLAND DEAD

O. I. EGGLAND PASSED AWAY

Mr. Eggland died at 1:15 o’clock Friday afternoon after an illness of two weeks. He was taken ill with influenza and complications developed.

Osmund I. Eggland was born March 11, 1877 on a farm four miles southeast of Roland, his parents being the late Mr. and Mrs. Ingebrit Eggland. He died at his home in Roland March 18, 1937, at the age of 60 years and nine days.

He was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran church and had lived his entire life in this community. He lived on a farm in the south edge of Roland for many years and five years moved to town with his family.

On May 31, 1900, he was married to Anna Sheldahl and five children were born to this union. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Irvin, Ernest and Eric of this place and Donald of San Diego, California. A daughter, Mrs. A. L. Martin (Floy Eggland), of Nevada preceded him in death January 10, 1937. Besides his family, he leaves a grandson, Adelbert Martin, Jr., of Nevada and four brothers and two sisters, Sam, Albert, Adolph and Martin Eggland, and Mrs. O. M. Grove, of this community and Miss Julia Eggland of Port Jervis, N. Y.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home and at Salem Lutheran church with Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. Music at the funeral was furnished by the Roland Male Chorus. The pall bearers were Clarence Johnson, Maynard Erickson, P. M. Martens, L. M. Olson, Martin Moe and T. B. Thompson.

Sheldahl, Miss Leora Sheldahl, and Osmund Leland and two daughters of Elmore, Minn.; Miss Julia Eggland of Port Jervis, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knoll of Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Krohn, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Kies, Mr. and Mrs. Ellingson, and George Dorman of Des Moines; Bessie Skola of Slater; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Twedt and Mrs. Floden, of Kelley; Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Twedt, Mr. and Mrs. Beurney Twedt, and Mrs. B. J. Anfinson and son of Huxley; E. R. Sheldahl, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hokel, Mrs. Carrie Harnden, Henry Boyd, and P. E. Skogerboe of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Olson of Randall; Rev. Peder Bueland, Mrs. S. J. Severson, Mrs. Bertha Ekeland, Elmer Severson and John Sheldahl, of Cambridge; Mrs. Tom Addland, Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Addland and Mrs. S. Thompson of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Torris Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Christian, of McCallsburg; Mr. and Mrs. John Maroney, A. L. Martin, and Sam Eggland of Nevada.
