Obituary.

Died, at 3:30 P. M., May 23rd, 1891, at her home in Richland township two miles north of Nevada, Mrs. Mary Louisa Miller.

Mrs. Miller, whose maiden name was Mary Louise Sipe, was born at Oskaloosa, Iowa, September 2d, 1859. With her parents she lived from the age of seven to nineteen in Ray county, Missouri, and the succeeding years of her maidenhood in Guthrie, Adair, and Adams counties, Iowa.

In the winter of 1881, she was converted at a revival meeting in Nevinville, Adams county, and thereafter lived a devoted christian life in the fellowship of the Methodist church. She was united in marriage to Samuel C. Miller the 16th day of January 1890, and then came to the Story county farm where she died. She was the mother of an infant child than now survives her. She has one brother, three half-brothers and three half-sisters. One of the latter came last March to stay a year with her and watched over her during her last sickness with tenderest care.

She lived in this community only a little over a year yet had a host of friends, for none knew her but to love her. She passed away with the brightest prospects of a glorious immortality, amid a host of weeping friends and relatives. She requested them all to kiss her good bye and exhorted them to meet her in Heaven. She then expressed gratitude for the care of her attending physician and hope of heavenly meeting. After that she asked all to rise and stand around her bed so she would see all of their faces and then requested Sister Moore to lead in prayer which she did in a very feeling and earnest manner, and it seemed that we were all standing in the very vestibule of Heaven as the weary spirit left the clay tabernacle to join the triumphant host in the paradise of God, where she will watch and wit for them to join her in the grand reunion. The funeral services were held at the house Tuesday at 6 o'clock conducted by Rev. A. J. Barton of Indianola, assisted by Rev. Fegtly of Nevada. Rev. Barton spoke from Revelations VII, 13, 14 and 17 verses. Her remains were taken Wednesday to Polk county to be laid to rest until the morning of the resurrection.

A precious one from us is gone
A voice we love is stilled;
A place is vacant here on earth,
But one in Heaven is filled.

CARD OF THANKS: The family gratefully acknowledge all kindness and sympathy received in their affliction.
