Israel Banks died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. L. Taylor, Ames, Iowa, last Wednesday, March 18th at the advanced age of eighty seven years lacking a few days. His death was peaceful and painless, the result of old age. He was a native of Vermont, but spent most of his mature life before coming to Iowa in 1865 in Canada and Illinois. His wife died about eleven years ago, since which event until the last year or more his home had been in Nevada with his son, A. K. Banks. They were the parents of eleven children, seven of whom survive them. Those residing in this county are: A. C., Mrs. E. L. Taylor and A. K., the latter being the youngest of the family. The funeral was attended at Ames, Friday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of the M. E. church. Mr. Banks was a man of worthy character and is kindly remembered by the earlier settlers of the county and others who knew him.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. E. L. Taylor" was Caroline (Banks) Taylor, wife of Eluthrous Lorenso Taylor. Her brothers also mentioned were Asa C. Banks and Ambrose K. Banks.
