From Nevada Representative March 11, 1891

Last Thursday morning John T. Stone received a dispatch from Wendover, Wyoming, announcing the sudden and unexpected death of his brother, W. E. Stone, at that place the night previous. Mr. Stone, accompanied by his wife and two younger children, came from Box Butte county, Nebraska, to Nevada, reaching the home of his brother here, Thanksgiving day. He was much broken in health, his malady being Bright's disease of the kidneys. But under the stimulus of rest, good medical treatment and friendly greetings, he so far regained his vitality as apparently to make it safe and desirable for him to return and look after his Nebraska business affairs. He left here last of January and sent back encouraging reports concerning his health, up to the very time of his death, March 4th, 1891. His letters indicate however, that in riding across the country to reach Wendover, he caught a cold which brought on a fatal return of his old malady. Mr. Stone was a native of New York and was about 43 years old at the time of his decease. During the past twenty years he has been a resident of Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming where he has been engaged mainly in stock raising. He was a man of energy, industry and integrity and highly esteemed by those who knew him. He leaves a wife and three children, a mother, and three brothers and a sister to mourn his loss. Mrs. Stone, who is still with friends in this vicinity, expects to go west soon, and with the help of the older son, a capable lad of fifteen, to look after the stock interests of her late husband. The kindly sympathy and encouragement of the community are extended to her and her little household.
