John David Wood
June 15, 1962 - December 29, 2015John David Wood 53, of Ames, Iowa passed away December 29th, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas (2210 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA 50014) on, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM, followed by burial service at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
John was born June 15, 1962 in Marshalltown, Iowa to David and Charlotte (Nichols) Wood. John graduated from Ankeny high school in 1981, he went on to graduate from the Electronics Technology program at DMACC, and then received his Tele Communicative Arts degree in Film Production from ISU in 1992 while he was working at Channel 5 (ABC). He worked for ISU in the Molecular Biology department as a Laboratory Technician then Printing Services Department until his retirement.
John enjoyed a wide variety of music, he loved to play drum and would sit in with local bands at Woody's Garage, Rural Edition as well as with the VFW Fog band.
He enjoyed fishing and wood working, and was fascinated with Genealogy and research of his ancestry. He loved his cats, Traci, Rosco, and Nani.
John will be remembered by those who knew him for his dry humor, sarcastic joke and fun cooking.
He was preceded in death by his father David Wood
He is survived by his wife Bernadette Ika Wood, mother Charlotte Wood, sister Linda (Kris) Hubble, brother Andy (Connie) Wood and nieces Katie, Audrey, Olivia, Jillian, Meredith.
