River Eugene Thompson, 17 of Maxwell passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

River was born October 2, 1998, to Clint and Carrie (Dubendorf) Thompson. He was in his junior year at Nevada High School and had been working the past year at Country House Restaurant in Colo.

River loved life, and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed Disney vacations with his family and had a special love for animals and nature.

River is survived by his parents, Clint and Carrie Thompson of Maxwell; his brother, Devon (Breanna) Dubendorf of Ames; his nephews, Jace and Layne Dubendorf; his paternal grandparents, Allen and Rosalie Thompson of Ames; his maternal grandparents, Carol and Jim Griebsch of Saranac Lake, NY; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa Mark “Pappy” Dubendorf; and his aunt, Colista Will.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, December 26 at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Celebration of Life Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 27 at the Nevada First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Chris Waddle officiating.
