From Nevada Representative September 17, 1890

Died at the residence of her father, near the center of Richland township, September 9, 1890, of spinal meningitis complicated with paralysis, Lonie Belle*, youngest daughter of Michael and Rosa Elwood Cook, aged 8 years 11 months and 21 days. This little girl was a general favorite not only in the home, but in the school, and in the community. She was sick nearly three weeks, and everything possible to prolong her life, but without avail. On Wednesday afternoon the remains were borne to the Johnson Grove M. E. church were the funeral services were held. Rev. R. A. Ferguson preached the sermon, and Rev. J. S. Throckmorton conducted the other services. Six little girls acted as pall bearers. Much sympathy is felt for the family in the loss of this one, and it was duly attested by the large attendance at the funeral and the general expression of sorrow.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The deceased was Louie Belle Cook, not Lonie Belle Cook as stated.
